Overview

A native of the Washington DC Metro area, Dr. Olanma Okoji has a wealth of experience across a broad spectrum of health issues, including preventive care, and women’s health, as well as the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic diseases. She returned to the Mid-Atlantic region after 6 years of training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology within the Mount Sinai Health System in New York City. Prior to her time in Manhattan she attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and The George Washington University School of Medicine.

As a resident physician in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian – Weill Cornell Hospital she received the Charles Uribe Award for her outstanding dedicated service to the minority community. As a Gastroenterology fellow she received further training in Transplant Hepatology at the Mount Sinai Hospital and participated in the IBD Visiting Fellows Program through the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America at the University of California San Francisco. Dr. Okoji’s work has been published in peer reviewed publications, national and international meetings including Digestive Diseases Week (DDW) and the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG). Her varied experiences and training have fortified her strong commitment to the field of Gastroenterology.

Outside of her professional life, Dr. Okoji enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and extended family as they travel, eat and cook together.
